Farming advice for your field

Advice about your field, from an agronomist who knows it.

A small station near your farm measures the soil and the rain, so your agronomist knows what is happening in your field before they call. You get advice about your field, more often, on the phone you already have.

How it works

Four steps, from your field to your phone.

  1. A station near your farm

Mai sets up a small station near your farm. It measures the soil and the weather every day. Sensors high above cover your field too. You do not need to look after any of it.

  2. Your field, every day

The readings from your field are compared with what is normal for it, so a change shows up early, before the leaves do.

  3. Advice on your phone

When something needs doing, you get advice about your field by SMS or a call: what is happening and what to do.

  4. An agronomist when it matters

When a problem needs a closer look, an agronomist checks your field, often in person, and tells you what to do about it.

Why a person

A person you can talk to, not an app.

Charts on a screen do not tell you what to do. Your agronomist does. Mai makes sure they know your field before they call.

  1. What is happening

For example: your maize has had less water than normal for 9 days.

  2. Why

What the agronomist found when they checked your field.

  3. What to do

What you can do about it, and by when.

A few days later, the agronomist asks how it went. Your answer helps make the next advice better, for you and for your neighbours.

For agronomists and the organisations they work for

Reach more farmers, with better advice for each field.

Mai shows each agronomist which farms need them, what is happening in each field and what to advise. Routine advice goes out by phone, so the agronomist's time goes where it is needed most. Mai is built to work with agronomists from cooperatives, coffee washing stations, exporters and advisory services, as well as its own.

Plan a pilot with Mai
  • Which farms need you

A daily list of the farms that need attention, most urgent and nearest first, with the reason for each.

  • The field before the visit

What changed, for how long, and what the readings show, before you leave.

  • Advice ready to send

Suggested advice for each field, in the farmer's language, for the agronomist to check, adjust and send.

  • A record of every case

What was seen, what the agronomist found, what the farmer did and what happened next.

  • Open interfaces

Advice and records are designed to be shared through documented, stable interfaces, so your own systems can use them.

Your information

Asked first. Kept close.

  • Asked first

Nothing about you or your field is stored until you agree. Your agreement is written down too.

  • Kept in your country

Your name, number and field are designed to be stored in your country.

  • Kept apart

Your name and phone number are kept apart from the readings used to improve the advice.
